VG newspaper, September 27, 2015. The Norwegian artist Thomas Knarvik got his book "In his name" printed. The publisher got cold feet and made "book-campfire". I do not want to comment on the content of this book. On a general basis, I will stand up for freedom of of expression. If you start making exceptions or you are afraid of reprisals, freedom of speech is fragile and requires artists to stand together. |

In my work with “after 22.July” I became aware of something I had always known, but that had never hit me as hard. I had to wait on the roses to die. It is a sad thing, but now I discovered that it was a rare beauty in it. I wish we all will look for that beauty in old age. Find the beauty in ageing. |

Big companies have the ability to help giving young girls healthy, giving, positive role-models, by using advertising, toys, films and so on in a caring way. So why do they give girls superficial role-models that is brainless and impossible to look like? Why do they make girls so uncertain of themselves, never satisfied with who and how they are? We have the ability to see, hear and talk. We can sometimes even get help if we can’t. But what do we see, hear and talk about? Are we too selective in what we WANT to see, hear and say? What do we chose. We have got the ability, but how do we use this ability? Could we do better? Think more before we speak – listen more instead of talking – use our eyes to SEE people and what need to be done. | You’re either with us or against usOil on canvas,

Young or old, baby or grown-up – everybody that is killed – are someone’s baby. The fingerstall represents all people that are, and will be, killed by weapons. It represent all the grief every parent feel losing their child. War, or no war, weapons are easy to get. The bullet is weighing the fingerstall down. The bullet is heavier, the children has no saying. But in the mirror the situation is the opposite, so in the end having killed someone’s | Life is protectedOil on canvas, 70x105cm (27,6x41,3")
If you get out of your shall you will be vulnerable – revealed. That is how I feel when I show my paintings. Life, the yolk of an egg, can sometimes endure much and sometimes little – with only the thin egg-shell as a protection. Life is fragile, and yet you can bear so much. As an artist you have to let yourself be vulnerable. By mirroring the revealed egg I protect it. As I try to protect myself. |

I have a crush on old cars, since I don’t owe one, I got some spark plugs from 1954 instead – and I just have to wish for the rest. One should think it would be easier to paint instead of the whole car, but after trying this, I am not so sure. It is a beautiful contrast in porcelain and the old metal.
